The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route’s greatest appeal is the opportunity to experience majestic nature with all your senses. There are trails suitable for a variety of levels, so you can take your time to enjoy the perfect hike. Enjoy the clean air and magnificent nature at your own pace.
Play With Snow
Tateyama Kurobe records some of the world’s highest snowfalls. The first flakes fall in October, and up to 8 m accumulates over the winter. Snow usually remains into July, making this one of the few places where you can play in the snow until early summer. It’s a unique activity anyone will enjoy.
Coolness
Summers in Tateyama Kurobe are so cool, it feels like entering another world. The temperature in Murodo is about 15°C (60°F) lower than on the plains below, maintaining a cool 20°C (70°F) even in July & August. Cold meltwater wells up in various locations and the plumes of water released from the dam are sure to soothe the body and mind.
